I have always loved pizza and could eat one all by myself, not even kidding! That’s not good for my waistline, or my health in general. Thank god I came across the idea for cauliflower pizza crust!! And you would never know its a veggie crust with the seasonings you add.
When I made this the other night, it was my very first try at it, so bare with me. I list a few tips and things I will do differently next time.
Here’s how i did it! And I would love feedback after you try it 😊
-1 med organic cauliflower head
-1 tsp dried oregano
-1 tsp garlic powder
-1 tsp dried basil
-2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese (i used Locatelli cheese)
-nonstick spray -OR- 1/4 tsp extra virgin olive oil
-clean dish towel
-Preheat oven to 425-
– cut cauliflower into florets, removing most of the stem.
-In a food processor (I used my 7 cup processor) pulse florets until they are almost powder like, in very small pieces.
-Put cauliflower in a microwave safe bowl and cover, cooking for 3 minutes.
-Pour cauliflower out onto your dish towel and let it sit for a bit to cool.
-Meanwhile, you can crack the egg and add spices and cheese into a bowl
-Once cauliflower has cooled, cover with towel and ring out the water, trying to squeeze out as much as possible. (The more water you squeeze out, the better the crust)
-Put cauliflower in bowl with egg , spices and cheese. Mix together (i just used my hands) and form a ball.
-On your cookie sheet, spray with nonstick spray or coat it with a little bit of olive oil.
***I used parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Next time i make this, i am going to just put a little bit of olive oil on the sheet and then lay the dough on. My crust wasn’t cooked enough for my liking, and i believe it was because of the parchment paper.
-On your coated cookie sheet, add your ball of dough, and carefully spread it out into a circle with your fingers.(Like pictured above) don’t make it paper thin.
-Bake in oven for about 10-12 mins, until it starts to be a golden brown.
-Remove from oven and begin to top it with whatever you love on your pizza!
-bake for another 8-10 mins until your cheese is bubbly!
This is what mine looked like!!
-using a garlic press, press 3 cloves of garlic into about 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil. Let the garlic infuse the oil, then drizzle over your pizza.
-Make a homemade sauce to add wonderful flavor
-You can add amazing flavor to your pizza by using caramelized onions. Just cook them slow, with a little butter until then have softened and turned a light brown color.
